From the 3rd – 10th June Downham Market engaged in celebration as Festival Week took place across the town, with over 45 events, Festival Week was a huge success which ensured to have something to take part in for everyone.
The main attraction took place on the 4th June as the long awaited Downham Market Parade took place. The iconic 1948 Olympic Torch carried by Mrs Duhig and Ms Cawkwell lit the way for the parade, which featured carnival floats from the Red Hat Society, Only Young, Harrods Coaches, Downham Town Football Club and many more…
Carnival Day events on the park also had plenty to of activities to offer, such as bouncy castles, carnival rides, game stalls, face painting and ‘Laser Combat’ which proved to be very popular. As well as these activities and more there was also a wide range of food, drink and other stalls selling various things.

In addition to the parade and carnival day events, Festival Week also offered events such as the Art Exhibition in the Town Hall, which we were able to visit and take a look. 
The exhibition provided a look into some very impressive art from and around the Downham Market area.
Other events included the Songbirds Concert (which took place in the Methodist Church Hall), Organ Grinders (which was held in the Town Square), Festival Commitee Coffee Morning (where the announcement of the lucky number and competition winners were announced) and the closing event of Songs of Praise, accompanied by the Flag Lowering Ceremony (taking place in the town square).
