West Norfolk incinerator

Questionnaire

West Norfolk incinerator plan

Norfolk County Council wants a “energy from waste” plant to be built in West Norfolk which would be capable of treating 170,000 tonnes of black bin waste as well as a further 90,000 tonnes of commercial waste every year. Supporters of the scheme believe the incinerator will not only help tackle the county’s waste mountain, but will also be able to produce energy which could provide power to 36,000 homes. But campaigners believe the incinerator will pose a risk to people s health and will be a “waste” of public money. DownhamWeb understands the incinerator, if built, will have a major impact on life in and around Downham Market so we have decided to piece together a list of stories published by the Eastern Daily Press to help you grasp the situation.
