The Town Council is proud of the work that is being put in by other organisations in Downham Market who are organising events that will make the Towns celebrations a success. Ryston Runners is a key support for our athletics day but they are also hosting three other events that will add an extension to our celebrations. 10th June sees a 20K and 10K walking event, 5th July is the annual Summer 5 mile road race and the 2nd September is the annual Wissey Half Marathon. These are first class events and are open to anyone interested in taking part. Downham Market will also be hosting its Water Festival on the 5th August where dragon boat racing is the order of the day down on the river near Heygates mill.
Amy East Rural Sports Development Officer working for Active Norfolk is on hand to support organisers in any way she can and will be actively involved in supporting the athletics day in May. Amy was keen to say that All the activities planned in Downham Market sound fantastic, I m sure it will be an exciting few months for the town. It s great that Active Norfolk are able to support the town in the planned events, hopefully it will encourage people in the town to become more active
