It's Time to Say Thank You to Downham Market's Volunteers

Do you know a friend or neighbour who works or fundraises tirelessly for a Downham Market or West Norfolk charity? If so, now is the time you can say thank you . Mayor of King s Lynn & West Norfolk, Councillor Geoffrey Wareham is calling for nominations for the Annual Mayor s Civic Awards for Voluntary Service. “Four months into my role as Mayor, I have already been astounded by the number of people we have in our borough who work tirelessly, with no financial reward, to make West Norfolk a better place to live” he said. “I am looking forward to giving these unsung heroes the recognition they deserve and I would urge local people to put forward their nominations”. So people of Downham Market, put your thinking caps on and get nominating. It could be:

    • Your child s youth group leader or sports coach,
    • A neighbour who delivers meals on wheels, or
    • A friend who is a committed fundraiser for a local charity.

Just remember that the criteria for nominations are: A resident of the Borough of King’s Lynn & West Norfolk who provides voluntary service or raises funds for charity and has done so since at least 1 January 2010 or A resident outside of the Borough of King’s Lynn & West Norfolk who provides voluntary service within the borough or raises funds for charities specifically within the borough and has done so since at least 1 January 2010 Nomination forms may be obtained from the Civic Officer, The Town Hall, King s Lynn, PE30 5DQ (01553 762124) or by e-mail on [email protected] Nomination forms can also be downloaded from the Mayoral section on the Borough Council’s web site.
