Festive fun on its way to Downham Market

The town will come to life during an afternoon packed full with family fun on Sunday 27th November 2011 in order to switch on the Christmas Lights. With even more entertainment planned for this year s switch on it really will be a festive delight so why not come into town and enjoy everything that will be on offer? The activities will start at 2pm in the town centre and will include a children’s fun fair, an indoor soft play themed double decker bus (this is heated for when it gets a bit chilly!) and for those of you who remember the rodeo bull at the Water Festival, his friend Rodeo Rudolph will be on the Town Square. For the first time in Downham Market there will be a Santa Fun Run. This is being organised by Ryston Runners and is aid of the Robert Foot Leukaemia Fund. The entry fee is £8 for adults and includes a Santa Suit to run in and for children under 13 it is £5 with flashing antlers to wear! Register on the Town Square in time for the start at 2.15pm. You can run, walk or jog two laps of the one way system all for a fantastic cause and receive a medal to prove that you have done it. Alongside all of this there will be the usual Craft Fair in the Town Hall and other stalls outside giving numerous opportunities to buy unique seasonal gifts in time for the big day. Father Christmas will then make a grand entrance on his sleigh before disappearing into his grotto in the Town Hall Bar Room and to top it all off there will be live music from the High School Jazz Band and Hilgay Silver Band as well as performances from Clackclose and Hillcrest Primary School choirs. If that does not warm your cockles then a glass of mulled wine and some hot chestnuts amidst the fake snow from the snow machine will. All of this will lead up to the grand switch on at 4.30pm. This event is being organised by Downham Market Town Council, Chamber of Trade, Lions and The Borough Council of King’s Lynn and West Norfolk. Should you require any further information or wish to book an outside pitch then please contact Maureen Hibling 01366 387147 or Kerry Heffernan 01366 387770 email [email protected] All stall holders will require Public Liability Insurance. *For more events being planned for this and other upcoming weekends in Downham click here
