Downham Market to compete in Alternative Village Games

With the success of the summer Village Games evident, Active Norfolk has decided to run a winter competition on the 27th January 2013, to be held at the University of East Anglia (UEA). Downham Market has decided to enter the competition and is now looking to put together teams in the following sports: Dodgeball Dodgeball is a simple yet exhilarating sport in which players on opposing teams seek to eliminate one another by throwing balls and hitting their opponents. With 5 players on court this is a male only event and players must be 14 years or over. We can take a squad of 8.
Handball Besides being an Olympic sport Handball is a combination of Basketball, Soccer and Netball. It is played indoors on a court about the size of two basketball courts. At the each end of the court is a net which is 9 feet wide by 6 1/2 feet high. The object of the game is simply to score more goals than the other team. With 5 players on court this is a female only event and players must be 14 years or over. We can take a squad of 8.
Ultimate Frisbee Ultimate is a team sport played with a flying disc. The object of the game is to score points by passing the disc to a player in the opposing end zone, similar to an end zone in American football or the in-goal area in rugby. Players may not run with the disc, and must keep a pivot while holding the disc. With 5 players on court this is a mixed gender game with players being aged 10 years and over.
We can take a squad of 8 but there must always be two male and two female on the
court at any time.
