Chinese New Year Celebrations in Town Square

Kung Hei Fat Choi (or Happy New Year)!

Chinese New Year falls on 10th February this year, as all over the world people will be welcoming in the Year of the Snake.

Downham Market will be holding it’s own celebrations on Monday 11th February in the Town Square.

There will be traditional Chinese Lion Dancers performing in the Town Square, and children from local schools will be attending.

Based on the lunar and solar calendars, the actual date of Chinese New Year varies, but always falls between late January and mid February.

Each year in the Chinese calendar is represented by one of the 12 animals of the Chinese zodiac.
