Town Centre Covid Parking Restrictions Lifted

The large red and white barriers, which have been a feature of the town centre since Spring have finally been removed from their positions outside shops in the town centre today.

Since the pandemic started earlier this year, the barriers were put in place to allow pedestrians extra space to pass one another, but in doing so, removed around 10 much-needed parking spaces in the centre of town at the same time.

Shopkeeper Gill from Mackies card and gift shop in the High Street, said that she was relieved; “finally, people can park outside the shop again – we’ve definitely lost business because of the barriers, I’m glad to see them go”.
