A by-election had been due to take place on Thursday 27 September to fill a vacancy on the North Downham ward of Downham Market Town Council. However as only one nomination was received there was no need for to hold a poll. We are informed that Michael Reginald Howland will therefore be elected un-opposed as Downham Market s newest town councillor. The vacancy was caused after the controversial resignation of two sitting councillors earlier in the summer, who stepped down in protest at the way the council was run.
