Local Councillor Supports Mutual Aid Fundraiser

Downham Market Councillor Josie Ratcliffe has donated her council expenses for this month to the Mutual Aid group fundraiser after receiving their leaflet through her door at home.

The Borough Council of King’s Lynn & West Norfolk has cancelled upcoming meetings and daily business is being handled by council staff, rather than Councillors making decisions.

“I’ve just donated my Councillor allowance for this month to the mutual aid fund. I’ve been following the group online and I was impressed to receive a leaflet today (Lynn Road). Council meetings are on hold (officers/staff are running the business of the council and the services) so my allowance could be put to better use.”

The £400 donation pushed the fundraiser over it’s initial £500 target, which goes towards the Mutual Aid group buying necessary supplies for those in need during this Coronavirus crisis, as well as supporting the volunteers in the group in their work.

Cllr Ratcliffe added she is “very grateful for everyone organising this support”.
