Yesterday afternoon Eastern Daily Press photographer Ian Burt andsenior reporter David Blackmore endeavored in a 212 mile ‘static’ bike ride challenge, all whilst raising over a tremendous £2,500 for Great Ormond Street Hospital.
The enthusiastic pair managed to succeed the 212 mile distance – equivalent to pedalling from King s Lynn to the London hospital and back – on exercise bikes in the Vancouver Quarter in King’s Lynn, cycling 106 miles each in just ten hours.
The challenge was to commemorate the second anniversary since Ian s youngest son had a life-changing operation at the hospital. Upon completing the bike ride David Blackmore frantically affirmed on his Twitter ‘We ve done it! 341km in one day. So proud of @Ian_Burt > top effort! Think we ve raised more than £2,500! #BurtysBigBikeRide @greatormondst’
Ian Burt also proclaimed ‘#BurtysBigBikeRide done!!! Many thanks to everybody who tweeted support and the donations of more than £2.5k for @GreatOrmondSt’
At Downhamweb we would like to publicly congratulate David and Ian for both of their tremendous efforts on raising such a phenomenal amount of money all for a good cause.
