44th Annual Downham Market Festival

Here’s the full rundown of the festival’s events. This year’s theme is “Around the World”.

Saturday 26th May

6:30pm – Songs of Praise at Downham Market Methodist Church, Paradise Road.

Sunday 27th May

10am – 5pm – Festival Art Exhibition at Town Hall Assembly Room. Free admission.

10am – 2pm – French Style Café at Town Hall Clock Room. Dining outside on Town Square weather permitting.

10am – 5pm – Mike Bullen photography exhibition of Downham Market’s history at the Town Hall.

10am – 5pm – Astronomy Society. Town Hall.

11am – Rock Choir performing on the Town Square.

12:15pm – Flag Raising Ceremony at Town Square.

7:30pm – Downham Market Arts presents “Ruined Childhood” at Town Hall. Tickets £10 each.

Monday 28th May

10am – 5pm – Festival Art Exhibition at Town Hall Assembly Room. Free admission.

10am – 5pm – Mike Bullen photography exhibition of Downham Market’s history at the Town Hall.

11am – Carnival Parade Assembles at Heygates Mill by the Railway Station.

12:15pm – It’s Carnival Time! The parade will progress up the hight street and arrive at The Howdale between 1:15pm and 1:30pm. Stage and arena events including Moto Stunts Team, Molly dancers, Zumba dancing, Raz the Clown, Legacy dance troup, and Justso James. Attractions will include funfair rides, inflatables, craft and charity stalls, food and refreshment vendors, and the bar bus.

7pm – “Boudicca – Rebel Queen” at the Town Hall, suitable ages 14+. Tickets: £5 adult, family/group of four £15.

Tuesday 29th May

10am – 5pm – Festival Art Exhibition at Town Hall Assembly Room. Free admission.

10am – 12:30pm – Children’s show with “Crazy Bananas” clown. £3 per child, including sausage, chips, and drink.

7:30pm – Downham Market Red Hats Sluice Women present “The Strollers” (50s, 60s, 70s music). Tickets £5.

Wednesday 30th May

10am – 5pm – Festival Art Exhibition at Town Hall Assembly Room. Free admission.

10am – noon – Mike Bullen photography exhibition of Downham Market’s history at the Town Hall.

10am – noon – Coffee Morning and Festival Cake Cutting at the Town Hall. Including The Fenland Flukes (ukulele band) at 11am.

1:15pm – Downham Market Festival Bridge & Afternoon tea at the Town Hall. Duplicate Bridge, proceeds to Macmillan Cancer support and the Festival Comittee. Tickets £6.

7pm – 9pm – Women’s Institute presents The Sheringham Shantymen at the Town Hall. Tickets £7.

Thursday 31st May

10am – 5pm – Festival Art Exhibition at Town Hall Assembly Room. Free admission.

10am – 11:30pm – Traditional Children’s Party in the Town Hall. Tickets £1.50 per child, drink and snack included.

7pm – 10pm – “Ladies Pamper” Evening in the Town Hall. £3 admission.

7pm – 10pm – “One for the Boys” at the Live and Let Live.

Friday 1st June

9:30am – noon – Festival Coffee morning at the Town Hall.

10am – noon – Mike Bullen photography exhibition of Downham Market’s history at the Town Hall.

2pm – 5pm – Come and Try Croquet at Stow Hall Gardens, Stow Bardolph. Free admission, wear flat shoes.

7pm for 7:30pm start – Festival Quiz Night at the Town Hall. £5 per person, including buffet and a hot drink. BYOB.

Saturday 2nd June

10am – 5pm – Festival Art Exhibition at Town Hall Assembly Room. Free admission.

10am – 2pm – Table Top Sale in the Town Hall.

7:30pm – Eyes Down for Festival Prize Bingo.

Sunday 3rd June

10am – 2pm – Sunday Funday at The Howdale.

11am – Dog Show.

Noon – Fens Falconry show and Flight.

3pm – Flag Lowering Ceremony at the Town Hall.
