2018 Hilgay Raft Race

On 8^th July the HIlgay Raft Races take place on the River Wissey. It’s a day of good fun for all the family, particularly if you enter the races.

The fun kicks off at noon with the first race starting at 1pm. The main benefitting charity this year is EACH – East Anglian Children’s Hospices. Spectators £1 entrance, under 12’s and over 60’s free.

Race entry if free of charge – all that’s asked is that you raise as much sponsorship money from family and friends as you can.

The Rotary Club may have one or two ready-made rafts available but putting your own together is not difficult. Crews of four are allowed and the course is 300 metres (under ¼ mile) on a placid, waist-deep, stretch of the River Wissey next to Hilgay Bridge.
