Gorgeous St George’s Day!

Parents and pupils from Clackclose and Hillcrest Primary Schools flocked to Downham Market Town Square yesterday to witness St. George’s battle with the Dragon on what was a gorgeous sunny day!

Mayor Cllr. Robin Pegg was present to speak to the large crowd, thanking them for their attendance and introducing the pupils, to brave St. George and the evil Dragon. We heard some beautiful singing and fervent applause rained down upon the choir!

Then, our valiant hero strode into the square amid cheers from the audience, followed by boos as the dragon emerged behind him. The dragon was defeated in a fiesty sword battle and the dragon was banished from Downham Market to the faraway land of Hilgay fen!

With the dragon dismissed the young choir sang of the legend of St. George and how he defeated the dragon.

Once all the singing and slaying ceased Cllr. Pegg once again thanked everyone for turning up and showing support for this very proud day for England and Downham Market.
