Downham Market High Street is temporarily closed and emergency vehicles are on site, as an accident involving a male driver and a Toyota Yaris has recently taken place.
Eye witness Harry Rattan from Anglia Compter Shop said "The car must have hit the shop and bounced back into the road. I came out and the driver had stopped breathing. Minutes later the police and ambulance were on site, I think he's breathing again now."
It seems that the air ambulance took the unidentified man to hospital after landing on the Howdale. His current condition is unknown.

The Denver Mill (owned by the Norfolk Historic Buildings Trust) was built in 1835 and is easily one of the most well known landmarks that resides just outside of Downham Market, it was also Norfolk’s last commercial flour mill to still be powered by wind. Restoration of the mill and out buildings began just around 17 years ago in 1995.
In October 2011 one of the arms which holds the mills sails in place broke, thus causing them to collapse into each other, the remaining sail was then removed in January of this year due to safety reasons.
The mill requires a massive £100,000 in order to restore its sails and wind gear, fortunately restoration of the 19th Century windmill has been given a very encouraging £15,000 boost by the Garfield Weston Foundation.
Trust secretary Dr Douglas Munro said: "Denver Mill is an important part of Norfolk's heritage and the trust wants to see it back in action."
“We hope very much that other grant-making organisations will also help the trust to restore the wind powering of the mill."
Norfolk Historic Buildings Trust has played a huge role in the restoration of the Mill since 1995 and 2000, costing over £1m.

As previously stated the new year holds many positive things for Downhamweb, and of course Downham Market in general...
We have already mentioned that the Olympic Flame will make it’s way from Peterborough to Norwich via King’s Lynn, but this is truly the tip of the iceberg!
This year the Downham Market Festival Committee will be arranging several events with an ongoing theme of the Olympic Games, but to be more specific, the ‘Downham Diamond Jubilee Olympics’. We should also not forget to mention that this is being exclusively announced first on Downhamweb!
The Downhamweb crew are both proud and extremely grateful to be able to announce the upcoming Festival Committee Olympian themed events for this year, the main draw will be the Carnival Parade (Which will be taking place on the Howdale Field) on 4 June, which will feature decorated bikes, a walking float, vintage tractors classic cars and more.
The carnival will be lead by the Downham Market running club representatives, who will be able to graciously lead the in all the floats whilst holding the magnificent 1948 Olympic torch!
The parade is free to enter and will offer many entertaining activities throughout the course of the day, so be prepared for a fantastic time. The Downham Market Town Hall will also be open to look around, as it will be showing the various London Olympic activities...
This year will mark the 38th Downham Market Festival, and here at Downhamweb we are very excited!
Throughout the course of 2012 be sure to check our new feature page titled ‘2012 - The Olympic Year’ where you can keep up to date on all things Olympic and sporty happening, you can easily do this by liking our facebook or following our twitter. We hope to see you in June!

With the Downham Market Christmas lights being taken down and the new year getting into full swing I figured we should have a nice site update (especially seeing as there hasn’t been anything that significant in a while!).
We are kicking things off with a brand new feature page (which will be replacing our Christmas coverage page which was completed in early December 2011).
The new feature page, titled ‘2012 - The Olympic Year’, will be an up to date source of sporting events and such happening in and around Downham Market... in addition to this page of events and updates we are also expanding our library of business listings, events, advertising and much more!
Whilst we are always searching for new and upcoming events in the area, you can help us out out if you are running an event or perhaps know of an event that we currently do not have listed. To submit an event just click here to fill out a form and we will get back to you as soon as possible. If you have any other events that are not related to sports, do not hesitate to let us know!
As some of you are already aware of Downham Market residents are being urged to welcome the Olympic Torch when it makes its way through West Norfolk next summer - even though it is not being carried through the town.
The Olympic Flame will make it’s way from Peterborough to Norwich via King’s Lynn, South Wootton and the Rudhams and orgainsers say it will give people from across the borough the chance to experience Olympic excitement first hand and support the achievements of some of the individuals who have been selected to be torchbearers.
So yes, lot's of exciting things to look forward to and get involved with this year, you can all so keep up to date with our updates by following our twitter and/or facebook page, so be sure to stay tuned for much more news in the near future!
As per the homepage, we will soon be able to publish the school newsletter on the DMHSZone blog page, so watch this space for more updates soon!
With the site being up and down constantly this past month we have been struggling to get news updates out, so we apologize for this inconvenience, however, Christmas amongst lots of other festive fun is just around the corner and we can’t wait to have a cracking time leading up on into the new year.
We’d like to hope everyone has also had a great time thus far and been getting involved in things such as the big light switch-on which happened on November 27th, and of course the hilarious Santa fun run (If you haven’t heard about any of this click here!). There was also the great KL.FM Toy Appeal where Father Christmas visited Tescos in Downham Market on December 6th, and of course let’s not also forget about the Jimmy Jemain & The Knight's Shadows Christmas concert too, which too provided a great time.
The Christmas build up isn’t over just yet though, tomorrow on the 17th December (Saturday) from 11am until 2pm The Magpie Centre at Runcton Holme will be hosting a very festive event! Santa will arrive at noon in a horse drawn carriage to thrill the waiting audience. In addition there will be a Western Riding Display, a carriage driving demonstration and a display of horse whispering techniques. Highlight of the day will be a drill ride to music performed by the disabled riders from the centre. The raffle will feature a Free Riding Lesson as the star prize with several other prizes to be won... Tickets are £10 each, and the children’s ticket includes a present from Santa.
Sounds like a ton of fun! And if you would like to read more on the event click here to be taken to our calender where you can view all upcoming events.
Last but not least is the SAS Christmas Club. From December 19th to 23rd the Christmas Club will be open at the Howdale Community Centre from 9.00AM to 3.00PM. Sports, Dance, Games, Activities, Competitions, Christmas Party & Presents for Boys & Girls aged 5-12. Entry is £10 per day or pay £40 for five days
We hope that everyone has a wonderful and festive Christmas time and a fun-filled new year.
From the downhamweb crew. :)

Today we have created a new DMHS Zone logo as I felt the previous one needed improving. We have now uploaded the new logo along with today’s updates to follow.
Now at the bottom of the homepage there is a link to the DMHS Zone page on the new logo as well as a link in text form.
Users that click the image will be directed to the DMHS Zone projects page which now the community can send comments to the site developers about their opinions on the site.
Trains between Ely and Downham Market will be cancelled on Sunday so work can be carried out restoring the tracks to the “correct position”.
Network Rail has told Downhamnews the service closure is necessary because the ground on this stretch of track is drying out with the lack of rainfall in the area. As a result of the dry weather, ground movement has caused the tracks to become out of direct alignment.
Services have been running at a reduced speed to minimise the chances of any disruption and remedial work has been carried out, a Network Rail spokesman told us.
He added: “We recognise that the timing of these closures is not ideal and we apologise for any disruption this may cause. It is absolutely essential that we carry out this work to keep the railway running efficiently and safely.”
The work will take place between 12.45am on Sunday to 3.50am on Monday. For full details on changes to train services, please check www.nationalrail.co.uk
Downham Market residents are being urged to welcome the Olympic Torch when it makes its way through West Norfolk next summer - even though it is not being carried through the town.
The West Norfolk locations were announced last week as part of an announcement by the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) of more than 1,000 villages, towns and cities in the UK through which the Olympic Flame will be carried by some 8,000 torchbearers.
Sebastian Coe, LOCOG chairman, has said: “We are thrilled to confirm that King’s Lynn, South Wootton and the Rudhams will act as host locations for the Olympic Flame, extending an invitation to people in West Norfolk to welcome the Olympic Torch Relay during its journey around the UK.
“This is the UK’s moment to shine and I want to encourage people across West Norfolk to start planning how they can be part of this once in a lifetime opportunity and show their support for the inspirational Torchbearers chosen to carry the Olympic Flame as we count down to the start of the Olympic Games.”
The 70-day Olympic Torch Relay, will start at Land’s End, Cornwall, on the morning of May 19, 2012.
On leaving Land’s End, the Olympic Flame will travel an estimated 8,000 miles around the UK giving thousands of communities and individuals their moment to shine as the Olympic Flame comes to a place near them.
On the final day of the Olympic Torch Relay, it is LOCOG’s intention that the Olympic Flame will travel down the River Thames as it makes its way to the Olympic Stadium on July 27, 2012, for the lighting of the cauldron at the opening ceremony, signifying the official start of the London 2012 Olympic Games.
People are invited to view the interactive map at www.london2012.com/olympictorchrelaymap to find their nearest community through which the Olympic Flame will be carried.
